Action Jack News: Production & Branding

Production, Editing, and Branding for Action Jack News
I originally stared working on Action Jack News for selfish reasons. Jack is an old friend who would often end random social media rants with “Action Jack News” as if to make them sound more official. I was looking for a low-pressure/practice project to brush up on using After Effects and Premiere Pro and thought a faux-news show would be perfect. However, after I volunteered my services I quickly realized Jack was taking this very seriously. This would be no half-assed attempt at being a faux news reporter: he was jumping in, full-ass.
While the production has evolved and improved since its inception, Action Jack is a maverick and embraces unconventional methods like shooting on a phone and leaving his street-facing windows open “for air”. As a producer, editor, and consultant for AJN I like to use these as opportunities to practice breathing techniques and prefer to view myself as a sculptor of raw elements that are randomly provided by the force of nature that is Action Jack. Besides, after attracting a couple corporate sponsors and a few diehard fans, it’s apparent AJN is resonating with people the production be damned.

Action Jack News - feature videos
Action Jack News straddles the line between being adept and amateur, combines the pomp of legacy broadcast with the energy of an irreverent uncle’s unfiltered TikTok rant, and provides little to no context or reporting. It’s all feels. A weblog of one man, living in Omaha’s Old Market neighborhood, and his interests covering a whiplash-inducing spectrum of topics. From horror films and recommended Omaha restaurants to classic hip hop songs and whether or not it’s acceptable to stand akimbo, AJN might cover anything and has something for everyone
Below are a few highlights. For more videos check out AJN’s YouTube channel.
Action Jack News - Merchandise & Marketing swag
Action Jack forges his own path and is ready for anything which is why AJN’s initial offering was a business-casual 100% cotton t-shirt. Mugs soon followed as well as buttons that expanded the client base to AJN haters. h/t Colonel Tom Parker
