Chicago Reader: Feature Videos

Chicago Reader Feature Videos
The videos produced at the Chicago Reader were nearly all done to accompany a print feature. As the Creative Director I hired and managed freelance videographers and editors for most projects. While we did produce many things in-house none of the editorial videos below were done so. Subjects we covered ranged from food and cocktails to musician profiles and vox pops as well as creating our own series like the Reader’s Key Ingredient.
Feature editorial videos
What does the neighborhood really think about Riot Fest? How can you fake a Chicago accent? Why does Joey Purp feel at home at the Ohio Street beach? What’s it like working in an old Hammond Organ factory? What the f*ck is Hiplet? Find the answers to these burning questions and more below.
Videography & editing: Morgan Elise Johnson, Kevin Kujawa & John Sturdy, Cory Popp, Kerry Pang, and Ben Kodak & Peter Galassi
BRAND REEL FOR CHICAGO READER
Inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove trailer, this reel was splashed together to show the Reader’s unique media personality traits: rebellious yet authoritative, thoughtful and irreverent; if you want to reach the people who are making today’s culture, you need to talk to the Chicago Reader.
